My whole approach: if it's worth having, it's worth finding secondhand first. Furniture, apparel, home decor, the thing you didn't even know you needed — estate sales, thrift stores, eBay, wherever it's hiding. Sometimes that means shopping ahead of the season, hunting fall pieces in July before anyone else's looking. Mostly it just means knowing where to look and what's actually worth bringing home.
